I've had the Sharp 11500 BTU Portable Air Conditioner (model number CV-P12LX) going for a couple of months now, and I must say that I'm tipping my hats off to guys who created it. It's keeping even our poorly insulated house really cool even if the temperature outside is in the 90 to 100 degrees F range.
We installed the Sharp 11500 BTU Portable Air Conditioner on the sunny side of the house. HOWEVER, as far as I can tell, this is NOT a biggie since the air conditioning unit exhausts hot air while pulling the intake air from your home. This is an even more efficient design since this means the air around your house will be cooler after running for some time. You will be recycling cooled air rather than getting hotter air from the outside.
I'm planning to wrap everything up with better insulation to make th Sharp 11500 BTU Portable Air Conditioner even more efficient. As for the hose, it's long enough to have the unit about 3 feet on the right of our window and it reaches fine. The remote, coupled with other convenience features on the other hand, work perfectly and are very easy to use.
True, the Sharp 11500 BTU Portable Air Conditioner is more expensive than your average portable air conditioner, BUT in my opinion, the performance it delivers is worth every penny!
Going The Extra Mile: YES, the Sharp CV-P12LX Portable Air Conditioner went the extra mile for us. Back then here in California, when the forest fires are plaguing the area, my allergies are terrible and the air outside is really bad.
Thanks to the Sharp 11500 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, the air was kept cooler and CLEANER even if it's NOT cooling. Within a couple of days of use, my allergies together with the terrible air from the outside went away. Since the heat wave has passed, we have been using the Sharp 11500 BTU Portable Air Conditioner as an air filter during those windy days when my allergies are bugging me.
Without a doubt, this would also be of great use as a dehumidifier when the rainy and dampy season strikes.
